1 tbsp butter
1 cup steel cut oats
3 cups boiling water
1 cup milk
1 tbsp brown sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
Dried or fresh apricots or figs
Pumpkin or sunflower seeds
In a large saucepan, melt the butter and add the oats. Stir for 2 minutes to toast. Add the boiling water and reduce heat to simmer. Keep at a low simmer for 25 minutes, without stirring.
Stir in the milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until oats are cooked and soft.
Add desired amounts of milk boosting ingredients such as apricots, figs, flax meal, pumpkin seeds, or sunflower seeds.
